5.0 out of 5 stars Beneath the Shadows of Evil ~ Taken February 25, 2013

The author supplied me with a copy of the manuscript with no request for a review. The views expressed in this review are my own and in no way influenced by the author.
Beneath the Shadows of Evil ~ Taken is a multi-layer story for the young Gypsy girl; Alliana finds herself in Mikhal the Evil’s castle very obviously under his evil but also under the evil of his sister, Marishka and several other characters that live in the castle. Jolynn Raymond’s descriptive ability as a writer is excellent as she shows Alliana’s emotional ups and downs and in the sizzling hot sexy love scenes between Mikhal and Alliana. She also does an excellent description of the change in Mikhal’s emotions as the story changes especially after his evil sister casts a feeling spell on him. The stories sex scenes are hot enough to make you fingers burn as you read your Kindle; the emotions of the characters make you feel a full range of emotions from hate to love and back again. The use and spelling of terms true to the time period also added to the enjoyment of this great story. As I read this book, I couldn’t wait to find out what happened next but I did not want it to end so I highly recommend it to other readers. The plot is excellent, the characters have great depth and I can’t wait to read book two in this trilogy

Taken… Beneath the Shadows of Evil is now officially released. It is so new it isn’t on my author page yet so don’t search by typing in my name. You need to follow this link or type in the title, you’ll find it. Happy reading!
Though it took me a good long while and though it was a difficult task, I have been successful in dividing Beneath the Shadows of Evil. I can send book one off to the editor, and focus on the cover image and other little details now. There will be three books. The first of which will be out in spring sometime between the middle of March and the first of May. Each book will be at least 6oo pages!. The cost for the print version of each book will be high, but the story simply didn’t lend itself to being split into 4 books.
So now there is a new dilemma. I have called the book Beneath the Shadows for so long, but now that will be the name of the series. I have to come up with a name for each book, and it must be short, because the series title will take up a lot of space on the cover even in small font. Book One is too dull of a name. I need a word or two that packs a punch for each book. Ideas anyone?
What does one do when the story they have written is a whopping 450,000 words? Many have said that books shouldn’t be over 100,000 words, especially in this day and age of the ADHD society. The paperback version will be too costly to print, and the e-book reader doesn’t want to invest the time, or so they say. So here I am left attempting to split apart a story that has a lot of small plot lines woven into the big picture and finding it a nightmare to cut it up.
If I follow the wisdom of those with experience and those in the business, I should chop it into four parts, but those parts aren’t clearly evident. Each sub plot is too intricately imbedded. Will my readers scream if too many of the small plot lines are left dangling? I am left with is cliffhangers ever where I look. The obvious break line comes way too far into the story. I cannot simply make two parts.
So here I sit, fussing and fuming and trying to cut up my baby so I can get book one to the editor on time. I am a writer, not a surgeon. I don’t want anything to do with a scalpel, but this is my decision to make. All I can say is OUCH!
Muse and I are waking up with a couple of cups of coffee. Soon we will be locked away with the computer so we can work, work, work. Yesterday was a full day spent tapping away at the keyboard and today will be another. The finishing touches are being put on my epic novel, Beneath the Shadows of Evil, and the editor is shining it up. It’s a paranormal historical romance that will be billed as the darkest love story ever told. It will debut in the Spring of 2013. Hopefully Muse and I can come up for air before then.
