Wedding In The Weeds Stained Glass Version

Hidden In Plain Sight #WickedWednesday

This is a picture of Jolynn and I from our wedding day. I would like to put up the real version someday, but that someday is not here yet. The prompt from Wicked Wednesday is hidden. We are hidden in plain sight as far as our relationship goes to some people. When I go to help Jolynn at work, I don’t wear my wedding ring as it matches hers. The people that she works with and works for might not all understand, and it also might put her job in jeopardy. You would think that people would be ok with same sex couples, especially F/f, since according to some friends, we are cute as kittens when we are together. I’m not going to go into why people should be accepting, since Jolynn has been doing that with her posts and the guest posts. So she is just biding her time until she can retire early and run free.

When we go trotting around together to do errands, we don’t normally hold hands or kiss. Once in a while we do though. When we go to the hardware store down the way, it is obvious that we are a couple and who is the boss. I think they are used to us over there though. The people in our neighborhood get a little weirded out by it, but I think they are more accepting as we have lived in our house for two years now this April, and nothing out of the ordinary has happened, so everyone goes on with their lives. Once a month on a weekend, we do have dungeon/ house parties, but I don’t think the neighbors have any idea about that. I think that would probably flip people’s shit more than us being a couple of married people that live down the street from them. They just know we have grand kids and a crazy dog.

So trot on over and visit the rest of the folks for Wicked Wednesday. Click on the button and it will take you there.

P.S. ~ I do like to fuck with some of the random people that knock on the door that are trying to ‘save’ me, or sell me something. I’ll tell you those stories a different day.

About BeautysPunishment

Once a wild brat that couldn’t be tamed, I have been in a 24/7 DD, D/s relationship since July 14, 2011. We had a collaring ceremony lead by Mistress Joanne and attended by friends. I’m only submissive to Jolynn. Every day I run our business, and anything else so Jolynn can write her books in peace and quiet when she has time. I am the housewife, secretary, publicist, pet parent, and doer of good deeds, squirrel, and fueled by caffeine. Redbull gives me wings to fly through the internets. It is my drink of choice, and it's what's for breakfast. I tend to put my foot in mouth, and will say things without thinking; so if I offend anyone, it's not intentional. I am blunt and to the point, and don't have an inner monologue. According to Jolynn, I don’t have an off button. She keeps trying to find it on the top of my head. I have an off the wall sense of humor; more often than not I am impulsive, a little loud, and sometimes obnoxious. But that's just me.

I’m sad that you can’t even wear your wedding band to Jolynn’s work. Very sad.

Although I wish BDSM was more accepted, I’ll take your relationship as couple being what they accept and the kink being the thing that would weird your neighbors out.

      I know, it’s kind of ridiculous. 😛

We live in a quiet neighborhood, so we had to sound proof the basement window by the parking slab in front of the garage. Plus when people go out to smoke when they are over, they know they have to clam up about stuff, since the neighbors kitchen window is right there where they are.

When I was looking through pictures the other day, I came across the before and after soundproofed window.

so sad you have to hide but totally understandable for her protection in the workforce. It should not be like that but sadly in many places it is. I hope you all have many years of joy and happiness.

Thank you Trent, I appreciate that. It makes me sad, but also pissed off that people are idiots. There was something on the news this morning that has to do with my post, and it just pissed me off even more. It’s at the local grocery store here in town. I will make another post to fuss about that.

We have people coming to the door for something or another when the weather gets nice. I’ll have to write stuff down right away so I can remember the snappy answers I gave them. It used to be even funnier when the boys still lived with me. They would get really obnoxious, which is kind of rude, but kind of funny.

“When we go to the hardware store down the way, it is obvious that we are a couple and who is the boss.”

    LOVED that:)

That mosaic is actually quite beautiful. Somehow the visual effect adds even more meaning. You two have been so wonderfully open and honest. It’s just great to see!

Can’t wait to hear the “save your soul” stories…

It is sad that even though we have come so far with regards to acceptance you still feel like you have to hide. I hate that about our world, we should all be able to fully be the people we are and love whom we wish, openly.

Shame that even today, in 2014, too much subconscious bigotry causes hassle.

I’m yet to have a decent explanation of why another person’s sexuality, orientation or love life affects these people in ANY way. I’d love to hear it; at least when I am in the mood to argue back! 😉

Thank you. Everyone is learning about my adventures one way, or another; either in book form or on Jolynn’s website. It always takes me a while to write out what I want to say, and then I end up pulling something out of my hat after midnight. If I’m live in person talking to people I can just say exactly what I am thinking, since I usually share too much anyway, but it’s different when I write it out.

I just wanted to say that both of our families have embraced our union and even our kink side, so even though we have to hide with my work, we are lucky in other ways. I love this post Beauty. XX

It’s such a pity you cannot just be yourself everywhere you go. That you have to take your wedding ring off because others might not understand – that is so sad. Great thing you have been accepted in your neighbourhood though, as it should be!

Like Jolynn mentioned, our families know and are totally ok with it. My youngest was weirded out a bit at first I think. My older son, who’s 29, even helped set up our dungeon room, and has been to munches with me. He tells me too much information whenever I see him, but that’s another story.

It is a huge drag to not be ourselves all the time and have to hide it. You would think that more people would be open minded by now, but they are not.
